Lonnie Wynn's Obituary
Lonnie Dene Wynn, 75, a lifelong Welchkin, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Oct. 11, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo., after a long illness.
Lonnie was born west of Welch, Sept. 5, 1947, to Ted Vernon Wynn, Sr., and Velma Lovetta Wynn, née Beaves.
Lonnie was a 1965 graduate of Welch High School, and he attended NEO A&M College in Miami, Okla., for two years. He served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972, assigned to the USS Spiegel Grove (LSD-32).
After completing his Navy service, Lonnie married his lifelong companion, Lew Ann Addington, at Welch Christian Church, May 24, 1974.
Lonnie spent 48 years as a builder and residential and commercial contractor, ending his career employed by CT Construction in Tulsa.
In good health, Lonnie was an avid golfer (especially with buddies Jeff Harden, Stan Eller, and Norm Jepson), as well as a fisherman, hunter, gardener, sports fan (especially of the OU Sooners and St. Louis Cardinals), and Western movie enthusiast.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Ted Wynn, Jr., Paul Wynn, and Sam Wynn; one sister, Mamie King; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Smith.
He is survived by his wife Lew Ann Wynn, of the home; one son, Tyson Wynn, of Chouteau, Okla.; one daughter, Shelby Wynn, of Welch; his grandaughter, Addileigh Josephine Smith-who was the apple of his eye-of Welch; his mother-in-law, Doretha Addington, of Quapaw, Okla.; four brothers: Ralph King and wife Loretta of Bluejacket, Okla., Douglas King of Welch, Tom Wynn and wife Suzanne of Shawnee, Okla., and his twin, Ronnie Wynn and wife Lorraine, of Ft. Scott, Kan.; two sisters: Catherine Jordan of Pennsauken, N.J., and Frances Short of Joplin, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Jennifer Jepson and husband Norm, of Miami, Okla.; two brothers-in-law: Jerry Addington of Derby, Kan., and Terry Addington and wife Kim of Tulsa; a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews too numerous to list; and a vast community of friends. Survivors all mourn the loss of Lonnie, who was a good, decent, and fair man with a quiet yet sure faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord.
A family visitation will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., Oct. 22, 2022, at Welch Baptist Church with Lonnie's memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Greg Highsmith will officiate. Following the memorial service, Lonnie's ashes will be interred at Rogers Cemetery west of Welch.
