Lonnie Lee Miller's Obituary
Lonnie Lee Miller, a longtime resident of Welch, OK, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, December 19th, 2023. He was 88 years old.
He was born July 18, 1935, in rural Baxter Springs, Ottawa County, OK, to Ervin L. Miller and Sleta (Williams) Miller.
He attended the Seneca, MO Public Schools. On April 9th, 1955, he married the love of his life, Shirley Schumacher, in a ceremony in Welch. From this union, two sons, Len and Terry, were born. He worked at B.F. Goodrich in Miami for 30 years before retiring.
He loved hunting, fishing, working on small engines and pecan equipment, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Though the family mourns his loss, they will forever cherish the memory of their family trip to Las Vegas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his son Len, who passed away in 2010.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley, of the home in Welch; a son, Terry Miller and wife Kari of Welch; a daughter in law, Len's wife Nancy Miller of Miami; a brother, Arvin Miller and wife Marilyn of Seneca, MO; an uncle, Ray Miller and wife Jerrie of Henryetta, OK; six grandchildren, Justin and Carrie of Miami, Jason and Ryan of Maryland; Jared and Ashley of Miami, Kendra and Casey of Fairland, Kaleb and Aimee of Miami, and Kerby and Zach of Miami; 11 great grandchildren, Seth and Jordan, Katie, Hayden, Hayes, and Holden Miller, Caine and Caiden Bowers, Ruger and Ryatt Miller, and Blaire and Bristal Nash.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December the 23rd, 2023, at the Welch Cemetery. Father Jim Ferry will officiate. Grandsons will serve as casket bearers.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, Lonnie be remembered with a donation to your church or the charity of your choice.
