Lonnie J. Johnson's Obituary
Lonnie James Johnson went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2013. He was born on January 30, 1935 near Eufaula, OK to Joe and Maggie (Davis) Johnson, who preceded him in death. He married Bonnie Rodgers on March 20, 1954 in Okmulgee, OK. She survives. Lonnie worked at BF Goodrich 31 years before retiring. After he retired, he was a fishing guide on Grand Lake for 25 years. He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball, hunting, fishing and watching his grandsons play sports. He is survived by two sons; Rick Johnson and wife Deanna of Commerce, Jimmy Johnson and wife Kim of Miami, and daughter, Debbie Kelley and husband Johnny of Ozark, MO. Four grandsons, Aaron Johnson and wife Kristen of Jenks, OK, Drew Johnson and fiancée Alexa of North Miami, Cade Johnson of Miami, and Justin Kelley of Northridge, CA. The family is anxiously awaiting the arrival of a great granddaughter, Emerson. Lonnie had three sisters, and five brothers who preceded him in death. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce. Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerry VonMoss officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Williams, Gary Pigg, Stacy Rodgers, and his grandsons, Aaron, Drew, Cade, and Justin. Honorary pallbearers will be David Thomas, Russ Peal, Paul Weatherby, Gary Stanley, Jimmy Coats, and Hank Souders. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Bowers Cemetery, Eufaula, OK. Interment following.
