Logan Hankins' Obituary
Mathew Logan T. Hankins, 16, of Welch, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2013 in Welch. He was born September 23, 1996, in Joplin, MO, to Patrick and Trudy (Rice) Hankins. He was a sophomore at Welch High School. He was a member of National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Technology Student Association, and had just been accepted to attend a half day next year at the Oklahoma School of Science and Math. Logan loved sports. He played baseball and basketball for the Welch School System, but his greatest love of sports was football. He was blessed with a musical talent. He played the guitar, bass guitar, and piano. He recently wrote his first song. Logan loved the Lord and his character showed it. He was an active member of the Gateway Church in Welch. He was known for his strength, honesty, kindness, and of course his smile. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gary Hankins; great-grandparents, Pum and Bernardine Rice, Woodrow Gripe, and Sidney and Juanita Rhoden. He is survived by his parents; 2 sisters, Sierra Hankins of Waxahachi, TX and Camry Fairchild and her husband Trey, of Welch; 1 brother, Spencer Hankins, of the home; grandparents, Art and Arlene Rice of Welch, Polly Hankins of Gilmer, TX; great-grandmother, Thelma Gripe of Grand Junction, CO; his girlfriend, Tylor Dodson of Welch; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Welch Civic Auditorium. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Welch Civic Auditorium. Rev. Frank Cargill will officiate. Interment at Welch City Cemetery, Welch, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Logan T. Hankins Memorial Fund, c/o Thomas Funeral Home, P.O. Box 231, Welch, OK 74369.
