Linda Sue Jorgenson's Obituary
Linda Sue Jorgenson, a longtime resident of rural Welch, OK, passed away while surrounded by her family, on Thursday, July the 24th, 2025. She was 80 years of age.
She was born September the 25th, 1944 in Dayton, OH to Ishmael Cornelius Turner and Olvesta Fern (Campbell) Turner. She was a graduate of Columbus High School in Columbus, KS. She was a cheerleader for several years.
On September the 19th, 1964, she married Verlin Joe Jorgenson in a ceremony in Chetopa, KS. They made their home northeast of Welch where they raised their two children. She worked several years at the Welch State Bank. Her and Joe then started the family business by owning and operating Jorgenson Equipment. They sold Vermeer hay balers and later added a complete line of lawn equipment. They made many friends during their years in business. After retirement, her and Joe began ranching at a larger level and took pride in the cattle they raised.
She was member of the Welch Christian Church. She loved to fish, going to Rhonda's Beauty Shop on hair day, cooking, gardening, and organizing numerous events and fundraisers for area families in need of assistance.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; her son, Rusty Jorgenson; an infant son, Verlin Joe Jorgenson, Jr.; and a sister, Delores Licon.
She is survived by a daughter, Kristi Bullard and husband Doug, of Cherryvale, KS; grandchildren, Lexi Baker, Gannon Jorgenson, Josh Baker, Jaeli Volmer and husband Mason, and Kasey Bailey; great grandchildren, Kimber Blaine, Jackson Baker, and Slade Volmer; God children, Tonya Wilson and husband Darren, Jerica Wilson, Deja Appleton, Moxyn Smith, and Crue Appleton; a brother Bill Turner of West Mineral, KS; a daughter in law, Jennifer Jorgenson; and two sisters in law, Gloria Vance and Carol (Jerg) Frogley.
A visitation will be held Monday, July the 28th, from 6:00- 7:30 p.m. at the Welch Christian Church. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July the 29, at the Welch Cemetery. Pastor Greg Highsmith will officiate. The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Welch Public Schools Enrichment Foundation, in which Linda was extremely passionate, c/o Welch State Bank P.O. Box 129 Welch, OK 74369.
