Art History was one of the toughest most important classes I've ever taken, in hindsight. Mr McDermott was such a great professor, being both knowledgeable with a unique sense of humor. I enjoyed learning from him so much. His honesty and rawness wrapped up in knowing that he truly cared; was exactly what I needed to survive UCM. I appreciate and am very thankful for my short period of time with him. I'll never forget Mr. McDermott. Thank you for keeping me motivated. I'm forever grateful to have met you!

I had the great honor of being one of Dr. McDermott’s many art history students as well as helping in his office one semester. He was such a kind and caring person, and I’ve thought of him throughout the years. I might not have known him for but a short period of his life, but he made a big impact on mine with his kindness. I remember he once told me I was a joy to be around, and in truth I felt the same about him. That small compliment meant so much to me. It’s been well over ten years since I knew him, but I’ll never forget him. He was one of my favorite teachers. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. God bless.
