Leon North's Obituary
Garland Leon North, 85, of Welch, OK, passed away July 16, 2016 at his home after a short illness. He was the loving husband of Wilma June (Rader) North. Garland was born October 27, 1930 in Picher, OK to Raymond and Flossie (Moore) North. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps from March of 1952 until March of 1954, ranking as Corporal, and obtaining various medals. He was transferred from USMC-SS to Marine Corps Reserve with service until March 19, 1960. He worked in the lead and zinc mines in Picher, OK, where he ran a drilling machine for Bonanza Mining Company from 1954-1957. He moved to California to work for a corregated box factory, retiring after 30 years. After retirement in 1986, Garland and Wilma made rural Welch, OK their home. Garland was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Jerry and Waymond North. He is survived by his wife, Wilma; 2 sons, Gary and Raymond North; special cousin, Larry North; sister-in-law, Donna North; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Private services will be held at a later date.
