Leo Franklin Hency's Obituary
Leo Franklin Hency, 81, of Bluejacket, OK, passed away June 7, 2017 at Vinita, OK, after a short illness. He was born August 23, 1935 at the family home in Timberhill (Craig County) OK to Albert Franklin Hency and Cora Alice (Coats) Hency. He was a graduate of Bluejacket High School. During high school, he worked driving trucks on the farm, delivering watermelons. He began driving heavy machinery and working with the state road construction crew. During this time he was drafted into the United States Army in January of 1958. He proudly served alongside high ranking officers in various departments. On August 14, 1970, he married Rosa Greninger in Vinita, OK. The couple settled in rural Bluejacket. Leo's greatest past time was watching the kids and grandkids play sports. It was rare for him to miss a game. He also enjoyed tinkering around with his old cars. He will be greatly missed by his family and his community. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Dexter Shambles; 1 grandson, Mathia Joshua Bergman; 1 sister Lillie Marie Williams; and 2 infant sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosa; 1 son, Alan Hency and wife Julie, of Bluejacket; 3 daughters, Gale Deewall and husband Brad, of Halstead, KS, Lisa Bergman and husband Bob, of Miami, and Teresa Adams and husband David, of Towanda, KS; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch. Brother Bill Bush will officiate. Serving as casket bearers will be David Adams, Brad Deewall, Bob Bergman, Michael Estes, Bryson Deewall, Matthew Adams, Levi Hency, ad Darnell Vinson. Interment at Bluejacket Cemetery, Bluejacket, OK.
