Lellous Harold McGuire's Obituary
Lellous "Harold" McGuire, aged 72, a cherished resident of Bluejacket, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Harold was born on September 14, 1952, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the loving parents, L.K. McGuire and Betty Lou (Linscott) Wheatley.
He had a long career as a Maintenance Technician. He worked for a package company in Joplin, where his expertise and dedication to his craft earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues. He had also worked as an over the road truck driver and in maintenance at NEO A&M College.
In 1971, Harold married the love of his life, Sharon Cook, at the Narcissa Baptist Church. This union marked the beginning of a beautiful journey together that spanned fifty-three years. Harold and Sharon were not just partners in life but also in faith, as they remained dedicated members of the Narcissa Baptist Church, where Harold served as a Deacon and was actively involved in teaching Sunday School at various times.
Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Courtney Brown and Holly Wayland. Harold's legacy continues through his daughters, Courtney and her husband Chad, and Holly and her husband Bob, all of whom reside in Bluejacket.
Harold's dedication to his community extended beyond his professional life. He and Sharon were passionate about training police dogs, specifically drug and trail dogs for the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and the Miami Police Department. Their commitment to this cause led them to attain their Reserve CLEET certifications, enabling them to continue their valuable work in law enforcement. One of their proudest achievements was training one of their Blood Hounds to become the first certified drug dog of its kind at the time. Harold and Sharon utilized both Labs and Blood Hounds in their training efforts, making significant contributions to public safety.
Harold's life was filled with love, dedication, and service. He was preceded in passing by his father, L.K. McGuire.
Those who will cherish Harold’s memory include his beloved wife, Sharon McGuire, his mother Betty Lou Wheatley, his daughters Courtney Brown and her husband Chad, and Holly Wayland and her husband Bob. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Renee Wayland, Corbin Brown, Lane Wayland, and Cohen Brown, who brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, Harold is survived by his brother, Keet McGuire and his wife Kari of Catoosa, his niece Laci DiLbero Rico, his nephew Ryan Burden, and his great-nieces and nephew, Kynlee, Ryleigh, and Major.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation for Harold, which will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
The funeral services will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Afton, with Reverend John Foley officiating. Following the service, interment will be held at the Williams Timberhill Cemetery in Welch, under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Casketbearers will be Cody Cook, Cole Cook, David Hudelson, Douglas Hudelson, Marlon Porter, Larry Cook and Terry Cook.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Chad Brown, Bob Wayland, Joe Tom Weaver, Bob Eubanks and Don Wadley.
