Lee B. Botts' Obituary
Lee B. Botts, 70, a resident of Miami passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin after a short illness. Mr. Botts was born on July 4, 1943 in Miami, Oklahoma to Ellsworth Barton “Bud” and Dorothy (Boone) Botts. He graduated from Miami High School in 1961 and then from Oklahoma State University-Tech in Okmulgee in 1963.He married Norma Jean Osburn on December 5, 1960 in Columbus, Kansas. He worked for his family at Botts Wholesale as a route salesman he also spent some time at Neil Norton and Kissee as an auto body technician and salesman He also worked as a tire shop manager for Miami Sales before going to work for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority where he retired from. Mr. Botts was a life time member of the First Christian Church in Miami and also a proud member of the Oneida Indian Tribe. He loved his model car collection, stock car races, fishing and working in his yard. He also loved his cats Keiko, Mu, Felix and Ozzy. Lee was an organ donor. Lee’s parents Bud and Dorothy Botts preceded him in passing along with a sister in law Lynette Botts.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years Norma Jean Botts, of the home, his sons Troy Botts of Springfield, Missouri and Todd Botts of Miami, a brother George Botts of Miami, a sister Dottie Ridge and her husband Richard of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and his long time mechanic friend Tommy Thulin.
Mr. Bott’s wishes were to be cremated. His service 10:00 AM on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Grand Army of the Republic. Inurnment will follow under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Oklahoma DAV, NOCA in Miami and the Animal Welfare Society in Miami.
