Josephine Knight's Obituary
Alice "Josephine" Knight, 88, of Vinita, OK, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Craig General Hospital, Vinita. She was born November 4, 1926 in Bartlett, KS to Joseph and Dorothy (Deacon) Foxworthy. After the death of her mother, Josephine was lovingly raised by Grover and Myrtle McHone. She was raised west of Welch near Neill's Store. She attended Centralia School through her junior year, then completed her education at Altamont High School, where she graduated. On September 5, 1945, she married Harold Victor Knight in Girard, KS. The couple made their home in Rural Welch. Josephine loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening. She was talented in many areas including sewing, crocheting, flower arranging, and macramé. She also enjoyed making afghans and bedspreads as gifts for family and friends. Nevertheless, she always made time for reading a good book. She was an active member of the Sunshine Bible Church, west of Welch, most all her life. She taught Sunday school as well as bible school for many years. Josephine and Harold later moved to Vinita. On August 23, 2008, Harold preceded her in death. Josephine was also preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Harold "Pete", Earl, and Bill McHone; son-in-law, Larry Timmerman; and daughter-in-law, Dianna Knight. She is survived by 2 sons, Harold L. Knight and wife Carole, and Terry Knight, all of Pryor; 1 step-daughter, Peggy Johnson of Lakewood, CA, 3 daughters, Jeannie Martin and husband Larry of Bluejacket, Betty Couch and husband Jeff of Ft. Smith, AR, and Vicki Timmerman of Mannford, OK; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Caryl Knight; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Thomas Funeral Home chapel in Welch. Minister Brad Canham will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill McHone, Larry Martin, Jamie Martin, Dr. Nick Martin, Shawn Martin, and Jeff Couch. Interment at Walker Cemetery, west of Welch, OK.
