Jim W. Sample's Obituary
Longtime resident of the Hudson Creek area, Jim Sample passed into eternity on December 9, 2010 in Oklahoma City.
Jim was born to Roy and Ada Walker Sample on January 5, 1943 in Miami, Oklahoma.
On February 19, 1960 he married his bride Kay Miller. Jim and Kay have lived in the area ever since. Jim retired from Newell Coach after many years of service. Jim and Kay were also faithful members of First Christian Church. All who knew Jim would say he was a true outdoorsman. He loved cattle, farming, and his pets including his two dogs-Sassy and Sue. Jim also enjoyed hunting, fishing and all other forms of wildlife.
Jim cherished his wife, daughters, son-in-law and grandson, considering them his greatest accomplishments. He also took pride in the life-long friends he developed.
Although Jim is no longer with us, his memory will be kept alive through family and friends including: His wife of 50 years Kay Sample of the home, 2 daughters Kandy Loehr of Branson Missouri, and Tish and husband Jason Pierce of Miami, OK, 1 grandson Andrew Loehr of Branson Missouri, 1 sister Maxine and husband Rufus Greninger of Miami, OK, 1 brother Hershell and wife Judy Sample of Miami, OK, and a host of longtime friends, neighbors, and church family.
Jim is preceded in death by 3 brothers Udonis, Bill, and J.W. Sample, 3 sisters Irene Crockett, Darlene Wilson and Charolene Hakanson, as well as both parents.
Pallbearers having the honor to serve will include Eric Crockett, Marion Crockett, Billy Sample, Jeff Sample, Mike Sample, and Ed Wilson.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10:00 AM at First Christian church of Miami with Pastor Leon Weece officiating. Interment will follow at GAR Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home; closed casket will be observed at both occasions.
