James William Phillips' Obituary
James William Phillips, 88, of Lawndale, CA, formerly of the Edna, KS area, passed away January 8, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 25th, 1934 in Burkburnett, TX to William and Ora (McCartney) Phillips.
He was a 1952 graduate of Edna High School. On May 25th, 1955, he married Elnora Cook in a ceremony in Miami, OK. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a Mechanical Engineer, retiring from Douglas Furniture after 27 years. He was a member of the Lawndale Christian Church in Lawndale, CA.
In his spare time, he enjoyed building, water skiing, motorcycles, and camping.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Phyllis Miller and Ruby Lackey; and two grandsons, David Marquez and Chance Sandusky.
He is survived by his wife, Elnora; three children, Christy Molnar of Sebastopol, CA, Leslie Sandusky and husband Curtis of Edna, KS, and Marcella Puente of Lancaster, CA; four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two nephews and one niece.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 Thursday, January 19th at the Crosstimbers Community Church in Edna, KS. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 20th, also at the church. Danny Rexwinkle will officiate. Burial will follow in the Edna Elm Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers will be James Marquez, Wesley Kinzie, Jack Kinzie, and Curtis Sandusky.
