James Lee Betts' Obituary
James Lee Betts, 41, of Welch, OK, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 20, 2017 in Welch from injuries sustained in an accident. He was born January 22, 1976 in Miami to Donald Betts and Gelena (Rogers) Betts. James attended Welch High School. He obtained his welding degree after taking welding classes at the Afton Vo-Tech. He previously worked as a contract welder in Bartlesville, and also in Bernice building boat ramps. He also worked a number of years at Fonseca's Saddle Shop in Welch. He had just gotten back into welding and was opening his own business. He cared deeply for his family. And, just like any father, his daughter was his pride and joy. In his down time, he loved to fish and snag for spoonbill. He is preceded in death by his father. Those mourning his loss include a daughter, Katy Betts of Iowa; his mother, Gelena Betts of Welch; one brother, Phillip Betts of Miami; three sisters, Amy Betts of Welch, Kelly Larson and husband Shannon of Chelsea, and Danta Clyde and fiancé Arnold Maldonado of Edmond; three nephews, five nieces, and eight great nephews and nieces. A service celebrating his life will be held at the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Welch on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in the Welch Cemetery.
