Iva Faye Plake's Obituary
Iva Faye Plake, affectionally known as Tootsie, 94, a longtime Miami resident passed away at Higher Call Nursing Center in Quapaw, Oklahoma on Thursday, December 19, 2024. Iva was born March 31, 1930 in Grove, Oklahoma to Elza Clarence and Dora (White) Nelson. She attended Grove and Afton Schools. On April 19, 1947 she married Wayne Dee Plake in Columbus, Kansas. Mrs. Plake loved to garden and work in her flowers beds, she enjoyed arranging and refinishing furniture and would work word puzzles. She and Wayne enjoyed playing pitch with friends. She was a good mother and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Iva was preceded in passing by her parents E.C. and Dora Nelson, her husband Wayne Plake, her siblings and one grandson Cameron Plake.
Survivors include her son Jerry Plake and his wife Penny of Miami, her daughter Dee Ann Young and her husband Ronnie of Miami, her grandchildren Sandee Plake of Miami, Angie Hulsey and her husband Brandon of Wells Point, Texas, Vicki Fleming and her husband Danny of Miami, Julie VanKirk and her husband Tyler Morris of Olathe, Kansas, her great grandchildren Katlyn and Preston Nelson, Kasey Stovall, Devon Fleming, Jaxon Fleming and Kayla Olsen and one great great grandchild Harper Nelson.
Graveside services for Iva will be 2:00 PM on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery with Mr. Ronnie Young officiating. Services are in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to National Diabetes Foundation and the American Alzheimers Association.
