Irene "Jo" Josephine Huxtable's Obituary
Irene Josephine "Jo" Huxtable, 94, a longtime Welch, OK resident, passed away Sunday, November 16th, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 8th, 1920 in Welch, OK to Manley Rogers and Ida (Vanover) Rogers. On October 14th, 1939, Jo married Dee Huxtable in Nowata, OK. Dee preceded her in death on October 30th, 2005. Jo worked for 17 years at the Lee Garment Company in Chetopa, KS as a sewing machine operator. She also worked a number of years for Earnie Walker in his furniture store. Her working career continued as she served as the Welch City Treasurer for 11 years. Jo became a member of the Welch Baptist Church in 1955. She loved her family dearly and always enjoyed the company of her daughters and all of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 12 brothers and sisters. Jo is survived by four daughters, Coleen Brown of Dewey, Okla., Deanna Merit and husband Larry of Vinita, Okla., Carolyn Harrison of Tulsa, Okla., and Virginia Stouffer and husband Bob of Honolulu, Hawaii; one sister-in-law, Dovie Rogers of Welch; Mom's three boys, Bob, Carl, and Ken; 6 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18th, 2014 at the Welch Baptist Church. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19th, 2014 at the Welch Baptist Church. Minister Bob Whitchurch will officiate. Burial will follow in the Welch City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Kevin Harrison, Rich Caldwell, Mike Eng, Lindy Huxtable, Dusty Agnew, Daniel Eng, and James Vail. Honorary casket bearers will be Bob Rapp, Raymond Walls, Bill Burgess, Wallace Allen, Cody Alan, and Danny Widener.
