Irene M. Harris' Obituary
Longtime resident of Welch, OK, Irene M. Harris, 84, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center, in Miami, surrounded by her family.
Irene was born November 10, 1929 in Treece, Kansas to William and Cassie (Blackford) Cleveland. She was a graduate of Welch High School. She married John Billy (J.B.) Harris in May of 1950. The couple made their home on farm in Welch where they would raise their family. Irene loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking for her family. She also worked for Oklahoma Leather for several years before retiring. J.B. preceded her in death on December 17, 1980 after an illness. In 2003, she moved to Eastwood Manor in Commerce to obtain personal healthcare.
Irene was also preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers, and 2 sisters.
She is survived by 2 sons, Steve Harris and his wife Cindy, and Jerry Harris and his wife Tammie, all of Welch; 1 daughter, Janet Cavin and her husband Gary of Miami; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Johnny Cleveland of Towanda, KS; 1 sister, Leta Webb of Belleview, WA; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
There will be a visitation for family and friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, Bluejacket, OK. Rev. Gordon Hatcher will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Allan Harris, Craig Cavin, Aaron McCord, Mark Millhollin, Zach Lozier, Bobby Gilman, and Keaton Gilman.
Interment at Welch Cemetery, Welch, OK.
