Iona May Reavis' Obituary
Longtime Welch resident, Iona May (Oney) Reavis, 92, left this life for her Heavenly home on the second Sunday of Advent, December 6, 2020.
Iona was born August 2, 1928, in Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, in the family home. Her mother, Lura (Randall) and father, Charles Oney, later moved to Welch. She had six siblings, Walter, Leroy, Letha (Todd), Isabel (Guinn), Erma (Seaman), and Arlend, resided in the home.
Iona graduated from Welch Public Schools and worked at the Welch State Bank for a time.
She married Roy Gene Reavis on November 1st, 1947. In 1954, they purchased a home with a small acreage at 385 North Springfield, just north of Welch, where they lived ever since.
They joined and remained active in Welch Baptist Church throughout their entire lives. Her favorite hobbies were her grandkids, but she also enjoyed quilting, collecting decorative spoons and thimbles.
Iona was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Gene, her eldest son Dexter Reavis, her parents, and all of her siblings. Three children survive her: Troy and Cathy Reavis of Edmond, OK, Roger and Barbara Reavis of Bartlesville, OK, and Janee and Andy Millarr of rural Craig County.
Her grandchildren are, Kelly Reavis and wife Traci of Allen, TX, Ashley Lillenkamp and husband Adam of Joplin, MO, Troy Reavis Jr. and wife Jen of Mooresville, NC, Lauren Wiley, and husband Kendall of Stillwater, OK, Colin Reavis of Edmond, OK, Brandon Reavis and wife Sarah, of Stillwater, OK, Clinton Reavis and wife Marti of Moore, OK, Lindsay James of Moore, OK, Whitney Hill and husband Justin of Edmond, OK, Trevor James and wife Carley of Yukon, OK, and Andrea Baker and husband Jay of Ketchum, OK.
Great grandchildren are Amy and Grant Reavis, Olivia Reavis, Norah and Luke Reavis, Cooper and Kaylen Wiley, Hallee Hance and Liam Bedford, Lorelei and Ellie Hill, and Cohen and Evyn James.
Friends may pay their respects and sign the guest book on Friday, December 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch.
A private burial will be held at the Welch Cemetery for the family and will include a Zoom meeting for others who want to observe. The time of the Zoom meeting will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, and will last until the interment if complete. The invitation to the Zoom meeting for the interment is available by contacting the funeral home, Troy, Roger, or Janee. A memorial service for both Iona Reavis and Dexter Reavis will be conducted at a future date and time.
Casket bearers will be Iona's grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Welch Baptist Church.
