Harry Paul Tyler's Obituary
Harry Paul Tyler, of Welch, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the age of 79. Harry Paul was born August 16, 1933 in Welch to Napoleon Bonaparte Tyler and Dora (Battles) Tyler. He was a graduate of Welch High School, Class of 1952. He began working for John Patch Coal Company at the age of 17. In 1953, Harry Paul was drafted into the United States Army, spending most of his time in Germany. He married Peggy Jeanette Pee on October 25, 1957. The couple made their home in Welch where they raised their children. She preceded him in death on May 27, 2008. After being discharged from the Army, Harry Paul returned to his job at the coal company, which later became the Bill Patch Coal Company, where he held the highest seniority till it's closing in 1986. He began working for Craig County in 1993. After twenty years of service, he had just recently planned to retire on the 28th of February. He was a member of the Welch Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years. Harry Paul loved the outdoors and spending time at the Farm. He enjoyed fishing, taking care of the cows and peacocks, and spending time with family. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and 1 brother, Doras Tyler. He is survived by 1 son, Mike Tyler and his wife Sherri of Chetopa, KS; 1 daughter, Paula Green and her husband Loyd of Welch; grandchildren, Derek Green and Delaina Green of Welch, Kevin Karnes of Miami, and Kelly Karnes of Altamont; 1 sister, Wanda Hankins and her husband Jim of Vinita; and a host of friends. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Welch Christian Church with Minister Brad Canham officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Tune, Joe Cox, Leland Mayfield, Derek Green, Butch Garrett, Rollin Rogers, Harley Malone, and Rick Chaney. Interment at Welch City Cemetery, Welch, OK.
