Harold Lloyd Horton's Obituary
Harold Lloyd Horton, 88, of Bluejacket, OK, passed away early Friday morning, October 5, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.He was born May 18, 1930 in Vinita, OK to Clarence Hugh Horton and Sarah Margaret (Butler) Horton. He was a 1948 graduate of the Bluejacket High School. He served his country for 6 years in the United States Navy.On June 6, 1955, Harold married the former JoAnn Groenjes in a ceremony in Ashland, Nebraska. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. Together, Harold and JoAnn ran Horton's Grocery Store at Four Corners for 33 years. They met so many wonderful people and made many great friends while running the store. Harold loved hunting, fishing, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.He was a member of the Church of Christ at Four Corners, the Masonic Lodge's in Vinita and Afton, the Shriners, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Robert Horton.He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, of the home; 3 sons, Randy Horton and wife Rita of Bluejacket, Douglas Horton and wife Cindy of Houma, LA, and Dr. Terry Horton and wife Kathryn of Vinita; one daughter, Teresa Colby and husband Duane of Cleora, OK; one brother, Donnie Horton; 2 sisters, Leva Carol Golightly, and Birdie Byrd; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.A Celebration of Harold's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Welch Civic Center.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Masonic Lodge in Vinita or Afton.
