Glenda F. Highland's Obituary
Glenda F. (Brewer) Highland, born September 26, 1920 at Covington, Oklahoma to Charles E. and Polly A. (Harman) Brewer. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1922. Glenda graduated from Central High School and Hill’s Business College in Oklahoma City. On June 18, 1939 she married John E. Highland MD, they moved to Miami, Oklahoma on September 26, 1946 where he established his medical practice until 1980. Glenda was a member of First Christian Church in Miami, she was an active member and past president of chapter DR-PEO Sisterhood and Letters and Arts Club and several bridge clubs. She was a sponsor and a member of; Miami Little Theatre, Friends of the Library, Friends of the Coleman, Oklahoma Heritage Foundation and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. She had been active in County and State Medical Auxiliaries, Jaycee Janes and Miami Rotary Anns. Mrs. Highland was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, Charles Junior, and a daughter.
Survivors include a daughter Glenda Eileen and her husband Coy D. Morrow, a son John E. Highland II and wife Barbara Anne. Grandsons Jeffery K. Highland and wife Pamela of Plano, Texas, Brennan D. Morrow and wife Sara of Chicago, Illinois, granddaughters Kelly and Justin McKellar of Santee, California and Polly Jenean and John Rohlf of Ukiah, California. Great grand daughters, AuBree and Jolie Highland, Anna and Isabelle McKellar, and Eila and Cora Grace Rohlf. Three nephews Michael Brewer, Keith Brewer and Tim Brewer, a niece Charla Knight.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Cooper Memorial Chapel in the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church Chapel with Minister Leon Weece officiating. Interment will follow at the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Miami under the direction of the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Miami Little Theatre or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or Charities of your choice.
