Glen Tony Freeman's Obituary
Glen Tony Freeman, 88, of rural Welch, OK, passed away early Friday morning, December the 6th, 2024, at the Claremore Veterans Center in Claremore, OK.
He was born January the 20th, 1936 in the Bluehawk area of rural Vinita, OK to Tony John and Hellen R. (Williams) Freeman. He married the former Linda Moore on July the 2nd, 1965. She passed away January 2nd, 2009.
Glen, known by family as "Pop", spent his early years in Vinita doing carpentry and construction in the northeast Oklahoma area. Later on, he moved west of Welch where he enjoyed farming and raising cattle. In 1986, he moved to Louisiana and became a commercial fisherman in the Gulf of Mexico. He owned, fished, and built multiple vessels until 2008 when he retired and returned to rural Welch. He then began goat and sheep farming.
He was one to stay busy. He loved working the farm, his livestock, fishing, and hunting. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents; a son and daughter in law, Danny and Kathy Freeman; 2 grandchildren, Shane and Ashley Freeman; and siblings Beverly Chitwood and Sue Lair.
He is survived by his children, Lonny Freeman of Miami, OK, Chris Cognevich and husband Huey of Bluejacket, OK, Dewayne Vancil and wife Diane of Vinita, OK, and Judy Freeman of Tulsa, OK; two siblings, Jerry Freeman and Rhea Weaver; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a special cousin, Jim Freeman; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside Celebration of Life will be held at the Walker Cemetery at a later time.
