Gerald Dean McGuire's Obituary
Gerald Dean "JD" McGuire, of rural Welch, Okla., passed away Saturday, November 6th, 2021 at his home, with his loving wife by his side, after a brief illness. He was 81 years old.
JD was born July 18, 1940 in Lebanon, Missouri to Wilford and Hazel (Atkinson) McGuire. He was the oldest of eight children. He was raised on the family dairy farm. He served in the United States Army and the Navy CB's. He was a cement finisher most of his life and after his retirement, he continued to work farming, and most recently, as a driver for the Amish community.
He married the love of his life, the former Rhonda Riggs on February 14th, 1977. On March 28th, 1978, they welcomed a daughter, Tonya Lee McGuire. Tonya passed away on December 1, 2017. JD had two granddaughters, Allison and Olivia, who he was so proud of. He attended Sunshine Bible Church. He never met a stranger and he enjoyed just visiting with people.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; two granddaughters, Allison McGuire Horton and husband Ranson, and Olivia McGuire; his mother in law, Becky Riggs; a sister in law, Vicki Nelson; four brothers; three sisters; numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces; his church family; his Amish family; and a host of friends.
The family held private services Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Welch Cemetery.
