George E Shamblin Sr's Obituary
George E. Shamblin, Sr. of Miami died Thursday, June 11, 2009 after a brief illness at home. He was 77.
He was born to Hershel and Pearl Shamblin on July 15, 1931 in rural Afton, Oklahoma. He grew up in rural Afton, Oklahoma.
He served in the Korean War from 1949 to 1953 in the United States Air Force. He was the owner of Miami Tin Shop from 1964 to present. He was a cattle rancher in Bluejacket for a number of years before returning to his present home. George was a member of the RLDS Church.
He married Alta Angel of Fairland, Oklahoma on August 5, 1955. She survives of the home. He is also survived by two children. His daughter: Angela and husband Dr. Jim Edwards of Lawton, Oklahoma and his son: George Shamblin, Jr. and wife Cindy of Miami, Oklahoma, four grandchildren: Andrea Edwards of Boulder, CO., Paul Edwards of Norman, Oklahoma, Kendra and Brianna Shamblin of Miami, Oklahoma, one sister: Maxine Brewster of Miami, Ok.
George was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Walter, Ray and Gene Shamblin and two sisters: Ruby Helm and Louise Mann.
George will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday morning, June 15, 2009 at GAR Cemetery with Brother Wayne Kirk officiating.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 PM at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home.
