Garry Lee Chaney's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the Chaney family announces the death of Garry Lee Chaney. He passed away peacefully and comfortably on December 6th, 2022, at the home of his son in Miami. He was 77 years old.
Dad was born May 13th, 1945, in Welch, OK to Jesse Carroll Chaney and Marjorie (Brady) Chaney. He was a graduate of Welch High School. After graduation, he began working at B.F. Goodrich in where he worked for 22 years. He then worked for the Welch Public Schools for 10 years, and also for 34 years, he worked for Bartlett Co-Op hauling propane for numerous families in Craig County. His customers became like family to him. His relaxing time found him owning and operating his own landscaping business. People from several states away commissioned him because of his impeccable landscaping skills.
Dad also loved trains, antique tractors, animals, especially his dog Jessie, and OU football. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, and every year he planted a large variety of flowers and shrubs, winning Garden of the Season many times.
Dad loved taking care of mom. He would move heaven and earth to get her the care she needed. His children and grandchildren brought him immense joy. He loved watching them play sports, rodeo, sing, get married, become parents, or simply talk to them about their lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol (Tootie) Chaney, and a brother, Bill Chaney.
He is survived by four children, Jeff Chaney and wife Stephanie of Miami, Rhonda Woodard of Owasso, Tanna McClure of Tulsa, and Debbie Barnes of Broken Arrow; two brothers, Ronnie and Rick Chaney, both of Welch; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, December 9th at the Welch Civic Center. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, also at the Civic Center. Wayne Wall will officiate. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Welch Cemetery.
