Frances L. Blevins
Born April 19, 1920 she went to meet her Lord November 2nd, 2009. Frances was born in Narcissa, Oklahoma.
Frances graduated from Miami High School with the class of 1938. March 26, 1938 she married Freeman Blevins. Freeman preceded her in death August 4, 1997. They had been married 59 ½ years.
She worked at the Puritan Milk Company. She and her husband owned and operated Blevins Grocery, Miami for 10 years. She worked for W. T. Grant Company in Miami and Dallas, Texas. Frances retired in 1975 from the W. T. Grant Co. as office and personnel manager with 20 years service. After retiring from W. T. Grant Company she worked in the Dallas, Texas Home Office of Ben Franklin Company. They returned to Miami in 1977. Frances worked for KGLC radio station. In 1980 she went to work at N. E.O. A&M Cafeteria, advancing to Assistant Mgr. of the cafeteria retiring in 1995 with 15 years service. In 1997-1999 she missed working so much she returned to N.E.O. A&M on a part time basis working for the N.E.O. Development Foundation.
Frances served as president of McKinley PTA, member of Chamber of Commerce, member of the Credit Women’s Association of Miami and N.E.O. women’s group at the college.
Frances has been a member of the First Assembly of God Church for over 50 years where she taught Sunday school for about 10 years.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Raymond May.
Survivors are two sons; Joe L. Blevins and wife Barbara of Afton, OK, Don R. Blevins and wife Carole of Miami, OK; one sister Dorothy Birks of Talala, OK; three grandchildren, Steve Blevins and wife Missy of Oklahoma City, OK, Michelle Munn and husband Matt of Belmont, N.C. and Traci Munson of Miami, OK; five great grandchildren, Jake, Brody, Jett, Laura, Conner; three step grandchildren, Diane, Chali and Steven; seven step great grandchildren.
She loved her family dearly and was never too busy to listen and make suggestions to them. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She always cooked enough food for everyone to take some food home with them.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church, Miami, OK.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church with Brother Raymond Frizzelle assisted by Brother Phil Shyers. Pallbearers will be Joe and Barbara Blevins, Don and Carole Blevins, Michelle and Matt Munn, Steve and Missy Blevins, Traci Munson, Berle Blevins, and Richard Maple. Interment will be at Ottawa Indian Cemetery.
We love our Mom/Granny and will miss her very much.
