Florence Wilson's Obituary
Florence Elaine Wilson, 90, a longtime Fairland resident passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Integris Grove General Hospital. She was born in a log house on May 14, 1924 on the Sabine River in Raine, County Texas to Jake and Minnie (Harris) Stalling. She began working at a very young age; she had her own cotton sack and would be in the fields of Texas with her family picking cotton at age five. She later met her husband of seventy-one years R. Paul Wilson at the School of the Ozarks; they married January 19, 1943. Mrs. Wilson became a teacher after age forty after attending Pittsburgh State University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree and Northeastern State University where she recieved her Masters Degree. She taught at Picher for seventeen years and then taught at Afton before retiring. She enjoyed teaching, square dancing and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her husband Paul Wilson of the home, her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren along with other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Fairland with Reverend Shannon Rodenberg officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairland Cemetery under the care of the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland.
