Faye E. Keeton's Obituary
Faye E. (Miller) Keeton passed away late Saturday evening, February 18th, 2023, at Grandwood Assisted Living in Grove, Okla. She was 96 years old.
She was born February 5th, 1927 in Nowata County, Okla. to Joseph P. Miller and Johnie R. (Cline) Miller. She grew up around the Nowata County area and attended Chapel Springs and Lenapah High School. On November 21, 1943, she married the love of her life, Clarence Keeton, in Coffeyville, KS. He preceded her in death on August 8th, 2009. They were happily married for 65 years. Faye worked in her early years as a nurse aide at the Coffeyville Memorial Hospital while Clarence was in the Navy.
Most of her life was spent working on the family farm in rural South Coffeyville, where she raised their five children. Faye was a faithful member of the Pleasant View Church of God. She was also a former member of the Thompson Homemaker Club. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Faye enjoyed visiting family, friends, and neighbors. She simply did not know a stranger as the door to her home was always open. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, fishing, picnics, baking, and camping.
Faye was a spirited, quick witted, energetic woman that was well loved and her funny anecdotes to colorfully explain every manner and circumstance will be missed. She would bake dozens of delicious cookies and have meals ready for the hard working farmers during hay season or really any season. Her love showed through her fussing over whether everyone had been fed well. Not to be outdone, Faye could drive a tractor, farm, save animals, or lovingly take care of a gaggle of grandchildren with a flourish.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her parents; infant son, Troy, her son Brad, Deanna (Floyd's wife), Collin McAfee (great grandson); sisters, Georgia Driskell, Fern Palmer, Audrey Thompson, and Johnie (Lois) Nease); brothers, Russell (Bob) Miller, B J (Bud) Miller, and Max Miller.
She is survived by four children, Floyd of Bartlesville, Mark (Joyce) of South Coffeyville, Donna of South Coffeyville, Bern (Linda) of Tulsa, Betsy (Steve) of Bluejacket; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 24th at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 25, at the Pleasant View Church of God in rural South Coffeyville. Chaplain Mark Lavine will officiate. Burial will follow in the Keeton Family Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Matthew, Joseph, and Timothy Keeton, David Mink, Larry Dugger, and Richard McAfee.
