Everett "Pete" Eugene Furnas' Obituary
Everett Eugene "Pete" Furnas, 90 year old Chetopa, KS resident, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Chetopa Manor after a long illness. Everett was born December 23, 1926 in Melrose, KS to Ernest Furnas and Katie (Crome) Furnas. As a boy, he attended Four Mile Country School. On October 4, 1963, he married Leona Broyles in Columbus, KS. He retired from the Labette County road crew in 1992 after many years running the rock crusher. He was also caretaker of Oakhill Cemetery for six years. He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a great grandson, Ridge Blackburn; three brothers, Clifford, Raymond, and Wayne Furnas; and one sister, Irene Moore. His is survived by a daughter, Janice Foss and husband Craig of Hollister, MO, two grandchildren, Mandi Campmier and husband Elmer II of Oswego, KS, and Jeremiah Foss and wife Christina of Green Castle, MO; five great grandchildren, Kainen, Rilan, Kayleigh, Reegan, and Roper; two sisters, Violet Bates of Chetopa, and Delores Weines and husband Dale of Oswego, KS. A graveside memorial service will held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakhill Cemetery in Chetopa. Pastor Randy Frazier will officiate.
