Everett Lee Johnston's Obituary
Everett Lee Johnston, Jr., 73, of rural Welch, Okla., passed away December 12, 2019 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, after an illness.
He was born February 26, 1946 in Welch to Everett Lee Johnston and Zelma Irene (McKinzie) Johnston. He was a high school graduate and continued his education at NEO A&M College where he obtained his Associates Degree.
On November 3, 1967, he married the love of his life, Connie Rinehart, in a ceremony in Seneca, MO. They made their home in Bartlesville, OK where he was employed by Phillips Petroleum as a Lab Technician. He retired with 34 years of service. He served his country in the National Guard for 6 years.
After retirement, they returned to rural Welch where he began farming, a hobby he dearly loved. He also loved music, playing the guitar, and most of all, his grandchildren. He was a longtime, faithful member of the Welch Baptist Church where he proudly served as Deacon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, I.N. Johnston; and a sister, Judy Covey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Connie, of the home; 4 daughters, Tracy Allman of Miami, Tricia Scott of Springfield, MO, Tina Norton and husband Shawn of Ardmore, OK, and Pamela Johnston of Owasso, OK; a brother, Larry Johnston of Miami; a sister, Lois Charles of Claremore, OK; and 7 grandchildren, Tabitha Reeve, Jordan Scott, Samantha Scott, Paxton Norton, Alicia Scott, McKenzie Johnston, and Joseph Norton.
The family will greet friends at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2019. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the Welch Baptist Church. Pastor Ralph Heiney will officiate. Casket bearers will be Dale Johnston, Loren Johnston, Shannon Walker, Todd Small, Dewayne Wallace, and Ricky Seigel. Honorary casket bearers will be Herbie Gamble, Ernie Tullis, Doug Pitcher, and Paul Wallace. He will be laid to rest in the Walker Cemetery, west of Welch.
