Evelyn Joy Rabel's Obituary
Evelyn Joy Rabel, 86, of Miami, Okla., passed from her earthly home into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 28th, 2021, at Eastwood Manor in Commerce, while she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Evie was born April 27, 1935 in Syracuse, New York to Frand Schink and Cecilia (Bean) Schink . She was raised in McGraw, NY. She attended school in McGraw and graduated from McGraw High School. She then attended Bethesda Bible School in Portland, OR for one year.
In 1957, she married Robert R. "Bob" Rabel in a ceremony in Kansas City, Missouri. For a time, Evie worked for Glenn Berry Mfg. in Commerce. In 1968, following the calling of their Lord, and their passion to serve, along with numerous faithful people, Bob and Evie established the Commerce Community Church. They retired in 2015, faithfully serving the congregation and community for 47 years. Evie, like Bob, still ministered to everyone she could until she was called home.
Her love for the Lord was evident daily in her life. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of a personal relationship with their heavenly father. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and she fulfilled her role as a pastor's wife exceptionally well.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, on January 28, 2018; her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Robert E. "Bob" Rabel and wife Christy of rural Wyandotte, and Ronald L. "Ron" Rabel and wife Lauri of rural Miami; three sisters, Carol, Ruth, and Janie; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1st, 2021 at the Commerce Community Church. Her life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021, also at the church. Pastor Ron Rabel will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to Bob in the GAR Cemetery in Miami. Casket bearers will be Brandon Rabel, Jonas Rabel, Jared Rabel, Matthew Mantle, Brandon Bennett, and Jared Beachner.
