Eva Louise Wright's Obituary
Eva Louise Wright passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the age of 68 after a
long illness with Alzheimer’s. Louise was born in Longview, Washington on June
10, 1948 to Homer and Ardie (Essex) Unger. She married Dennis Wright on June
25, 1965. She was baptized at the First Christian Church in Miami, OK. Louise
was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Wright, her son, Rusty Wright,
and her parents, Ardie and Homer Unger.
Louise (Unger) Wright was known for her contagious laughter and smiling face.
She was generous to all who knew her. She loved to dance and laugh and live
Life to the fullest. She loved her children and grandchildren with every ounce of
her being. She was proud of their accomplishments and enjoyed watching them
succeed. She was beautiful, fearless and funny. She was known for her outgoing
personality, laughter and zest for life. She loved her children with all of her heart.
She was a great mother who sacrificed many things for her children and never
complained. She wanted what was best for them and worked hard to give them
everything that she could. God placed her on this earth to make us all laugh and
smile every time we saw her.
She would also take on any challenge that was given to her. She was very
supportive and vocal in her husband’s powerlifting career. She was a chairperson
at many State Powerlifting meets and liked to travel with her husband to attend
meets, particularly the National Competitions and the World Championship meet.
She was a vocal advocate of Powerlifting, and went head to head on many
occasions with some of the biggest judges, writers and publishers in the sport.
She help give support to many young powerlifters training with her husband
Dennis, by cheering them on, repairing torn powerlifting suits, and often setting
an extra plate for them at dinner.
She worked her entire life raising her family, as well as working for Eagle-Picher,
Bayliner and Tracker Marine. She enjoyed sewing and would make blankets for
her grandchildren. She even knew how to perform home repairs and fix an
automobile that wasn’t running. She was an amazing woman who was not
defined by stereotypes of her generation.
Louise will be missed tremendously by all of those who were lucky enough to
know her. She had a heart of gold and her love for her children, grandchildren,
friends and family will carry on forever. Louise was truly “one of a kind”.
Louise is survived by her son Joseph Wright and his wife, Dorothy from Edmond,
her daughter, Denise Gates and her husband Jim from Owasso, and daughter in
law Doris Wright, of Springfield, Missouri. She is survived by nine grandchildren,
Marcus Wright, Karlee Wright, Lilly Gates, Victoria Wright, Sierrah Wright,
Landon Wright, Olivia Wright, Clay Gates and Sophie Gates. She is survived by
her two sisters, Marilyn Maple and husband Richard and Pat Hecksher and
husband Frank of Miami. Nephews Ronnie Maple and his wife Stacy of Cashion,
OK, Cody Maple and his wife Jessi of Miami, Derek Hecksher and his wife Lucja,
of Nichols Hills, OK, Brett Hecksher of New York City, Blake Hecksher of
Stillwater and niece Randee Craghead and her husband Travis of Miami. She is
survived by her Aunt Neva Essex of Miami, and Uncle Joe Mercer of Miami, also
her brother in law Eddie Wright and wife Junie, of Lake Bay, Washington and
their sons, Kevin and Christina Wright of Jay, Oklahoma, David and Jackie
Wright of Fox Island, Washington and Brian and Christina Wright of Port
Orchard, Washington.
A special thank you to Higher Call Nursing Home in Quapaw Oklahoma who’s In house
care team provided exceptional care for Louise, Integris Hospice, and Dr.
David Mitchell.
A Celebration of Life is planned for August 8, 2016 at 6:30 at the First Christian
Church in Miami, under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service with a
reception for family and friends after the service. Flowers will be provided by
Ann’s Flowers and Gifts, Miami OK.
