Elizabeth Jane Bluejacket's Obituary
Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Bluejacket, 91, of Bluejacket, Oklahoma, passed away July 2, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family. Betty was born March 4, 1922 in Cripple Creek, Colorado to Guy and Ruth (Foley) Swift. She was a graduate of Cripple Creek High School, Class of 1940. On December 13, 1941, she married Joseph David "Joe" Bluejacket in Cripple Creek. After a short time, they moved to Denver, Colorado where Betty worked in a school cafeteria. She also did various volunteer work for the Seminary in Denver. In 1990, she moved to Edmond where she continued her volunteer work, then to Bluejacket in 2002. On September 5, 2006, Joe preceded Betty in death after an illness. Betty devoted her life to her family and her church. She never met a stranger, always smiling. She was known for her humor, thoughtfulness, and caring nature. People were naturally drawn to her. She will greatly missed by all. Others preceding her in death were, her parents; 2 sons, Joe Jr and Richard "Rick" Bluejacket; great-grandson, Shawn Stacey Satterwhite; and 1 brother, Ed Swift. She is survived by 1 son, Rev. David Bluejacket, of Arvada, CO; 2 daughters, Virginia "Ginni" Satterwhite and husband, LeRoy, and Mary Bluejacket, all of Bluejacket; grandchildren, Dustie Rogers and husband, John, of Bluejacket, Ben Bluejacket and wife, Heather, of Wichita, KS, Jamie Bluejacket of Bluejacket, Rusty Satterwhite and wife Geri of Welch; great-grandchildren Kameesha, Chalin, and Kawlan Rogers, Gabe and Dee Dee Satterwhite, Terrell and Jaron Bluejacket, and Kade and Danielle North; 1 brother, Robert Swift of White Rock, New Mexico; 1 sister, Phyllis Whitney of Mesa, Arizona; cherished in-laws, Mike and Jane Linns and Nancy McCarty, all of Bluejacket; numerous extended family members; and a host of friends. A special thank you to Integris Home Health and Hospice for your endearing service during such a difficult time. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the home of LeRoy and Ginni Satterwhite, 409 NE Center, Bluejacket. A Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami. A mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Rev. David Bluejacket, will be held at 11:00 a.m., following the Rosary. A private family burial will be in the Bluejacket Cemetery.
