Edward L Seabolt's Obituary
Edward L. Seabolt, 89, of Welch, OK, passed away January 30, 2018 in Vinita. He was born April 3, 1928 in Disney, OK, to James F. and Mozell (Shields) Seabolt. On February 19, 1951, before graduating from high school, Ed joined the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharges on February 18, 1953 after serving in the Korean War. He was a life member of the American Legion which he proudly supported. Ed was also proud of his Cherokee heritage. He married Betty Mae Farmer in Miami, OK in 1962. Ed worked in the lumber business in California and the potato fields of Idaho. Upon returning to Oklahoma, he and Betty owned and operated the Hitchin Post restaurant in Welch. He later owned and operated a service station and tire shop in Chetopa, KS. His passion was raising thoroughbred horses. His past time was repairing lawn mowers so he could get out and about to be with and meet people. His wife, Betty, preceded him in death April 23, 2009. He is also preceded by his parents; brother's Francis (Sam), Leslie (John), James, Jr., and Kenneth (Gene); sisters Louise Chadwich, Mildred Creason, Ellen Seabolt, and Virginia Trusler. He is survived by his 92 year old brother, Jess Seabolt of Jennings, OK; sister Sue Maple of Vinita; his niece and caregiver, Michelle Warren, also of Vinita; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and his many friends in the "Coffee Club" who were so special to him. Services will be held at 1:00 Thursday, February 1, 2018 in the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Welch. Pastor David Scott will officiate. Pallbearers will be Austin Warren, Jeff Warren, Bob Eubanks, Tom Chesnutt, Ricky Chaney and Gary Chaney. He will be laid to rest next to Betty in the Bluejacket Cemetery.
