Edna M. L'Roy's Obituary
Edna Maxine L'Roy, 79, of Bluejacket, OK, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Heartsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation in Vinita, surrounded by her family. Edna was born July 4, 1934 in Zena, OK to Malcom and Crissie (Addington) McRae. She was a graduate of Miami High School, Class of 1951. On October 21, 1951, she married Edward J. L'Roy in Miami, OK. In July of 1966, Edna became a military wife. She stood by her husband during his military career as he served in Korea, Japan, Germany, Viet Nam, Guam, as well as both the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. After almost 60 years of marriage, Edward preceded Edna in death on June 22, 2011. Edna worked as a Secretary for the Lab at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami for 25 years, before retiring in 1997. After her retirement she enjoyed spending extra time with her family and friends, of whom will miss her greatly. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Winfrey and husband, Glen, of Bluejacket, Gayla Honey and husband J.D., of Catoosa, and Melinda (Mickey) Sharpe of Modesto, CA; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; sister-in-law, Betty McRae of Miami; brother and sister-in-law Alvin and Fawn Hunter, of Miami; and a host of friends. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Church of Christ in Miami. D.J. Castoe and Bobby Key will officiate. Interment at Bluejacket Cemetery, Bluejacket, OK.
