Edith Fay Essex's Obituary
Edith Fay (Meister) Essex, 84-year-old Lifetime area resident, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in Wyandotte, Oklahoma.
Edith was born on February 18, 1934 in Fairland, Oklahoma to Victor and Christina (Storck) Meister. She was raised in Fairland and graduated from Fairland High School in 1952. She married Ray Essex on August 8, 1971. Edith worked for 57 years at 1st National Bank in Fairland and was the Senior Vice-President until her retirement. She loved to travel and had been all over the United States but especially loved Branson. Edith was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairland and served there in several capacities over the years, including as a Sunday school teacher as well as in the Lutheran’s Women Mission League. She was also in the Unique Ladies Club and Fairland Senior Citizens Club. Edith enjoyed quilting and sewing in her free time.
Edith is preceded in death by her husband Ray, two brothers Roger Lee Meister and William Arthur Meister.
Edith is survived by a son Shawn Essex of Joplin, a daughter Raylene Peppers and husband David of Park Hill, Missouri, three grandchildren, Zachary Essex, Ty Essex, and Benjamin Peppers, as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Edith will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairland, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery. Pastor Leo Schroeder will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Morris, Kyle Cornwell, Don Brown, Ben Peppers Ty Essex and Zachary Essex. A visitation for friends and family will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland, Oklahoma.
