Dovie Lee Rogers' Obituary
Leona Lee "Dovie" Rogers, 88, of Welch, Oklahoma, went to meet her heavenly father on February 23, 2018, at her home, after a long illness. She was born August 16, 1929 near Ralston, Oklahoma to J.T. Bridges and Ethel Agnes (Skinner) Bridges. When Dovie was 8 years old, she moved with her family to Craig County and lived west of Welch. She attended Grandview School as well as Welch High School. On December 19, 1949, she married Thomas Ray "Tom" Rogers in a ceremony in Bentonville, Arkansas. In 1966-1967, she attended NEO A&M College where she received a degree in nursing. Over the years, she worked at the Welch Hospital, Miami Baptist Hospital, Craig General Hospital, and then for Dr. Fred Ray for over 28 years. She was a long time and faithful member of the Welch Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School each summer. She loved people so much and caring for them brought her so much happiness. She also loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren to the fullest. She loved gardening and sewing. But above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. On December 6, 1995, her husband, Tom, preceded her in death. She is also preceded by 4 sisters, 3 brothers, and a son in law, David Hickey. She leaves a legacy of love to one daughter, Fonda Hickey of Welch; 2 sons, Billy R. Rogers and wife Teri of Miami, and Tommy Joe Rogers of Ketchum; grandchildren, Gala Miller of Welch, David Hickey, Jr. and wife Ara of Edmond, Jeremy Rogers and wife Niki of Bluejacket, Tiffany Hayes and husband Sean of Vinita, Tracy Rogers of Commerce, Ryan Rogers and wife Stephanie of Ketchum, Jake Brown and wife Shelby of Ketchum, Casen Rogers and fiancé Hailey Thomas of Tahlequah, and Kaitlyn Rogers of Tahlequah; great grandchildren, Hunter Nash, Maddux and Parker Rogers, Gage Miller, Hadyn Rogers, Jackson, Ella, Olivia, Benjamin, and Sawyer Hickey, Ava, Sophia and Liam Hayes, McKynzi, Jeyton and Sawyer Brown, Alexis and Isabella Rogers; and a community full of friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 26th, 2018 at the Welch Baptist Church with Pastor's Ed McFall and Bob Whitchurch officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Rogers Cemetery, west of Welch.
