Dorothy "Dot" A. Rogers' Obituary
Dorothy A. "Dot" Rogers, 71, of Quapaw, OK, slipped into the arms of Jesus, February 7, 2015 at Freeman Health System in Joplin, MO, after an illness. She was born December 25, 1943 in Altus, OK. She was living in Marysville, CA, when, by her surprise, she met the love of her life, Tom Rogers, at one very special revival meeting. They married in Marysville on November 11, 1961. They moved to Commerce, OK and later to Miami, where they raised their family. After their children were grown, they moved to rural Quapaw to be closer to Tom's work. After almost forty eight years together, Tom preceded her in death on July 27, 2010. Dot worked as a bottle washer for Eagle Picher for ten years. She was an active charter member of Commerce Community Church. She was known for her love for the Lord, her love for her family and her contagious laughter. She was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Dean Rogers on June 16, 2007. She is survived by three sons, Chet and Dawn Rogers of Baxter Springs, KS, Chris and Anita Rogers of Wyandotte, and Chet Rogers, Jr., of the home; 1 daughter, Tomi and Eric Tubbs of Disney, OK; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch, OK. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Commerce Community Church. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary, Terry, Jimmy, and Jerry Rogers, and Steven Giles. Interment at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami, OK.
