Donald "Spud" Leroy Sires' Obituary
Donald "Spud" Leroy Sires, 87, of Fairland passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 in Joplin. Spud was born in Ochelata, Oklahoma on November 22, 1929 to Alvin “Chick” Carson Sires and Ada (Brown) Sires. Mr. Sires is a Korean War Veteran that was a member of the United States Army. He worked as a Union Electrician for many years before his retirement. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cooking. His parents Chick and Ada Sires preceded him in passing along with a daughter Cassandra Sires, two brothers John Wesley Sires and Handy Sires and two sisters Wanda Virden and Joyce Parker.
Survivors include his wife of the home Gloria (Davis) Sires, three daughters Patricia Lynn Sires of California and LaDonna Viles and husband Steve of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Shelley Rae Wallain of Fairland. His siblings are Bill Sires of Ochelata, Sherry Lozano of Bartlesville, Colleen Peck of Bartlesville, Phyllis Sanders of Ochelata, and June and Harry Thomas of Ochelata. His grandchildren Eric Gifford and his wife Olga of Utah, Nicole McKinney and her husband Dillon of Bartlesville, Isabella Wallain, Emmalynn Wallain, Kiley Christensen and her husband Craig of Germany, and Shelby Teeter of California, his great grandchildren, Nik Gifford, Maks Gifford, Rylee McKinney, Taylor Christensen, Chandler Christensen and Presley Christensen.
Services are 10am Tuesday at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami with Reverend Shannon Rodenberg officiating. Interment will follow at 2PM at the Ochelata Cemetery.
