Donald Lon Prater's Obituary
Donald L. Prater, 88, of Miami, Oklahoma, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, February 12, 2020. He was born February 26, 1931 in Wyandotte, OK to Oakley Earl Prater and Erna Amelia (Fawks) Prater. He was a graduate of Wyandotte High School.
On June 2, 1951, he married the love of his life, Norma Foster in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. With a love for agriculture, they enjoyed farming their land in rural Wyandotte. Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved spending time with his family and was so proud of his grandchildren.
He worked for B.F. Goodrich in Miami for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of the Commerce Community Church for over 40 years, serving in many capacities.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rhonda Rabel and six siblings. He is survived by his loving wife, Norma; one daughter, Glenda Fansler of Miami; two grandsons, Brandon Rabel (Sara) of Webb City, MO and Ty Fansler (Natalie) of Biloxi, MS; three granddaughters, Misty Rabel of Webb City, Natalie Beachner (Jared) also of Webb City, and Emily Fansler (Victoria) of Shoreline, WA; thirteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Melvin Prater of Commerce, Ken Prater of Seneca, and Daniel Lynn Prater of Texas; one sister, Mary Lewis of North Carolina; and a host of friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Commerce Community Church. Pastor Ron Rabel will officiate. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
