Donald Everett Paxson's Obituary
Donald Everett Paxson, 86, of Welch, OK, passed away Sunday afternoon, July the 9th, 2023, at Hillcrest-Claremore Hospital, while surrounded by his family.
He was born February the 23rd, 1937 in Picher, OK to Ward Everett Paxson and Mary Elizabeth (Gillespie) Paxson. He was a high school graduate. On April the 13th, 1957, he married the former Doretha Moss. They had celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Donald retired after 20 years of service in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country during the Viet Nam War. After his military retirement, he went to work at Steelcraft in Miami, OK, retiring after 20 years. He then had time to do what he loved, fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He had attended the Mound Valley Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Doretha, of the home; 5 children, Donald Paxson, Jr. and wife Betty of Vinita, Douglas Paxson and fiancé Rose of Vinita, Jody Paxson and wife Cheryl of Chetopa, KS, Lori Rose of Baxter Springs, KS, and Angela Hensley of Vinita; a sister, Mary Lewis of Miami; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July the 22nd, 2023.
