Donald Lee Kyser's Obituary
Donald L. Kyser, 94, formerly of Miami, passed away at The Groves Retirement Community in Independence, Mo on October 28, 2011.
He was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on April 13, 1917 to B.F. and Gail (Jones) Kyser, the first of seven children. He graduated from Miami, Oklahoma High School and attended Graceland College in Lomoni, Iowa. He was a life-long member of the Community of Christ.
Donald was a successful businessman before accepting full time ministerial appointment with the Community of Christ. He served the church throughout the Midwest, Main and Ontario, Canada before retiring in 1982 after 34 years of service.
He was married to Hazelmarie Guinnee for 67 years before her death in 2004.
Survivors are his daughter Donna Allen of Machiasport, Maine; son Robert and wife Diane Kyser of Independence, Missouri; grandsons Andrew and wife Emily Kyser of Spring Hill, Kansas; Troy and wife Julie Kyser of Independence, Missouri; two great grandsons Jack and Colin Kyser; brother Ben and wife Alyce Kyser of Grain Valley, Missouri; sister Kay Kyser of Orange Park, Florida; close friend Dee Barrett of Orange Park, Florida and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside services will be held at the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma on November 12, 2011 at 10:00 AM. A memorial service will be held on November 13th at 3:00 PM at the Ridgewood Community of Christ, 4341 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions many be made to the Community of Christ Temple Endowment Fund, 1001 W. Walnut, Independence, Mo 65050.
