Dickie Lee Satterwhite's Obituary
Dickie Lee Satterwhite, a longtime resident of Welch, OK, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Freeman Health System in Joplin, MO, surrounded by his loving family. He was 67 years old. Dick was born May 3, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa to Roy Satterwhite and Lilla (Ruggles) Satterwhite. He married the love of his life, Janie Taylor on June 25, 1966 at the Bluejacket Baptist Church. He worked a number of years at the B.F. Goodrich plant in Miami. After the plant closed, he went to work for, and retired from, Eastern State Hospital in Vinita, where he worked as a Mental Health Aide. He had a passion for kids. This was shown as he coached youth football and baseball in the Welch community for 20 years. He loved to fish. His grandchildren were his life and chasing them in the yard and watching them play sports was a great joy to him. He also enjoyed watching Mixed Martial Arts competitions. Dick attended the Welch Christian Church for a number of years, but most recently attended the First Christian Church in Miami. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, and one infant son, Baby Satterwhite. He is survived by his wife, Janie, of the home in Welch; two sons, Brad Satterwhite of Miami, and Stacey Satterwhite and wife Nicole of Miami; five grandchildren, Truman, Jesse, Jackson, Victoria, and Reece Satterwhite, all of Miami; two brother, Bill Satterwhite of Rome, GA, and Leroy Satterwhite of Bluejacket, OK; four sisters, Betty Fite of Diamond, MO, Sue Sprading of Adair, OK, Teresa O'Neil of Nesbit, MS, and Jane Lins of Bluejacket, OK; several uncles and aunts, including a special aunt, Nancy Cook of Bluejacket, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the Bluejacket Cemetery. Minister Leon Weece will officiate. Casket bearers will be Tony Allensworth, Ronnie Satterwhite, Brandon Lins, Craig Shriner, Mike Lins, and Nick O'Neil. Honorary casket bearers will be Bill Satterwhite, Leroy Satterwhite, and Ronnie Nowlin. Following the service, the family will greet friends at the Bluejacket Community Center from noon until 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Welch Enrichment Foundation.
