David Larry Small's Obituary
David Larry Small, 79, a lifelong resident of rural Welch, Okla., passed away suddenly Sunday evening, June 24, 2018 at his home. He was born in rural Welch on February 14, 1939 to Arthur Hancock and Pauline (Ross) Hancock. He was a graduate of Altamont High School in Altamont, Kansas. On June 21, 1958, he married the love of his life, Peggy Thach, in a ceremony at the Methodist Church in Vinita, Okla. He was a lifelong rancher and farmer, a job he loved to perform every day. He was a member of the Edna Baptist Church.Aside from farm duties, he loved horses, his cattle, and his semi-truck. He was a family man who adored his wife, children, grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.Left behind to mourn his loss include his wife, Peggy Small of the home; one daughter, Lindy Davenport and husband Tim of Centralia, Okla., two sons, Tony Small and wife Kristi, and Todd Small and wife Michelle, all of Welch, Okla.; four grandsons, 5 grand-daughters; six great grand-children; and a host of friends. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Welch Civic Center. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2018, also at the Welch Civic Center. He will be laid to rest in the Lake Creek Union Cemetery, Bartlett, Kansas. Casket bearers will be Ty Davenport, Trey Davenport, Blair Small, Zac Small, Brye Crites, Brian Longan, and Kevin Green.
