David Gaile Hickey, Sr.'s Obituary
David Gaile Hickey, Sr., 61, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born December 20, 1951 in Miami, OK to Thomas and Edna Faye (Schoenals) Hickey. He worked for Leon Walker Coal Mines for ten years, as well as other various mines in the area. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator for Smith Environment. David married Fonda Rogers on January 16, 1971 at the Assembly of God Church in Welch. The couple made their home in Welch where they enjoyed their family, friends and gardening together. David loved the outdoors and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister. He is survived by Fonda, his wife of almost 43 years; 1 son, David Hickey, Jr. and his wife Ara of Tulsa; 1 daughter, Gala Miller of Welch; 5 grandchildren, Gage Lee Miller of Welch, Jackson Thomas, Ella Margaret, Olivia Grace, and Benjamin Robert Hickey, all of Tulsa; 2 brothers, Pat Hickey of Commerce, and Tom Hickey of Miami; 1 sister, Joyce Cover of Miami; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Welch Baptist Church with Pastor Casey Whiteis officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Thomas Funeral Home, P.O. Box 231, Welch, OK 74369.
