Danny D. Mills' Obituary
Danny D. Mills, of Bixby, OK, passed away late Thursday evening, March 23rd, 2023, at Franciscan Villa in Broken Arrow, OK. He was 75 years old.
He was born February 27, 1948 in Miami, OK to Imogene Ruth (Haire) and Floyd "Booge" Mills. He grew up in Welch and graduated from Welch High School. He attended Oklahoma State University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting before moving to the Tulsa area where he worked for Occidental Gas and Oil for over 20 years.
Danny was an active member of the Mustang Club of Tulsa, rebuilding several Mustangs, specializing in the 1970 convertibles. A favorite was a show-winning yellow Mustang that showed mud on certain numbers of the odometer after he restored it from a flood. Danny was also an avid gardener, growing all sorts of vegetables, plants, and flowers and maintaining blackberry bushes through several moves, which were started with a cutting from his parents house in Welch. He loved spending time with his kids with lots of boating, fishing, and tubing outings, working on cars, and setting off epic fireworks on the 4th of July!
He spent several years antiquing with his wife, Donna Mills, maintaining a shop and often did refinishing of items himself. He also enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels in his retirement, quickly becoming known for being able to get all variations of a specific car - something that took a keen eye to detail. He loved the hunt for a missing item in his collection.
Danny was long known to be friendly and willing to help friends and family out in need. He was a jokester who could walk you into a joke you'd never see coming! He also had an ornery streak that often came out in his sense of humor. During his time at Franciscan Villa, he became known as the "hall monitor" as he spent time sitting in his doorway, chatting up his neighbors and keeping an eye on the comings and goings of everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Imogene and Floyd, and his sister, Pam Mills.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Bixby, OK; two sons, Jerrad Mills and wife Natasha, of California, along with their two children, Kyle and Katie, and Justin Mills and wife Jennifer Kennedy of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
A private graveside service will be held at the Welch Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch.
