Clyde Everett Guthrie's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and friend, Clyde Everett Guthrie, who left this world March 31, 2023 at the age of 71.
Clyde was born November 18, 1951 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas and lived much of his life in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. He was saved at the age of 17 and loved the Lord deeply. He often said, “Jesus is my hero” and many conversations were held about what the Bible has to say about life. He graduated from Westville High School, Westville, OK in May of 1970. He joined the Army National Guard and served six years. He married Karen Sue (Millican) Guthrie August 7, 1971 and they had many adventures in their 51 years together.
Clyde was a lifelong hunter and fisherman. Some of his favorite times were of the outdoors with his sons.
Always a hard worker, Clyde worked in construction for several years before learning to drive a Big Truck. He drove for himself until he started the second of his trucking companies. He also raised chickens, and, for a time, had a commercial egg farm. Wherever he lived, he enjoyed having a garden and his “green thumb” truly created some amazing plants.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Carl F. Guthrie and Lois M. (Sherrin) Guthrie Rogers, his brother Floyd D. Guthrie, and his sister June Ann (Guthrie) Barton.
He leaves to mourn him his wife, Karen; two sons Jason Guthrie and wife Christal of Ft. Wayne, IN; Steven Guthrie and wife Amanda of Stotts City, MO. Also left behind are three granddaughters: Courtney (Guthrie) Jasinski and husband Gideon, Sydney Guthrie, and Riley Millar; five grandsons: Nathan Millar, Levi Guthrie, Logan Guthrie, Tanner Alexander, and Kysynn McClintock and other extended family and friends.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
