Clarence "Sonny" L. Wagoner's Obituary
Clarence Leroy Wagoner died Tuesday May 5, 2015 at Miami Baptist Regional Health Center. He was seventy-six years old.
Clarence Leroy “Sonny” was born to Charles Leroy and Freda Elizabeth Wagoner July 20, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Everyone knew him as “Sonny” from the start since his father called him “Sonny Boy.” He was preceded in passing by his parents. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1956. He married Daisy Dobyns in 1957. They had a daughter, Teresa. They later divorced. He married Jo Campbell in the early 1960’s they had a son Clayton L. Wagoner. They divorced in the latter 1960’s. He married Nancy Fitzgibbon at the Harber Village Chapel in Grove, Oklahoma on September 15, 2000. They resided in Miami, since September of 1992, the four years previous to that they resided in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
In the early 1960’s he moved to Saint Louis, Missouri, where he lived for about five years, he did plumbing for a living and played guitar in a band. From Saint Louis he moved to California, where he lived for ten years or so coming back to Tulsa in 1979. He started his own plumbing business, Excel Plumbing. He moved back to Oklahoma in 1992 and settled in Miami, Oklahoma.
He built a huge woodworking shop at their home and taught himself how to make beautiful furniture. He loved doing woodwork. He also loved fishing and boating, he was never happier than when he was at the lake. He enjoyed music, especially old country music. He loved to go watch NEO College girls play soccer and softball, and even went to all their practices; he wouldn’t have missed on if he knew about it. He was their unnamed ever faithful mascot!
Sonny had a sunny disposition and he lived to tease people. If you were around him for just a time or two, you would remember him for his beautiful smile and the twinkle in his eye when he knew you were onto him. You would have thought he was Irish! He will be sorely missed!
He is survived by his wife Nancy of the home, his sister, Betty Kesterson of Frisco, Texas, his brother Herbert Wagoner and his wife Yvonne of Owasso, Oklahoma, his daughter Teresa Wagoner of Oklahoma City, his son Clayton L. Wagoner of Miami, three grandchildren, Courtney Wagoner of Oklahoma City, Brayton and Cassidy Wagoner of Joplin, Missouri, three nephews and two nieces and a number of great nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
