Chester (CJ) James Newman's Obituary
Chester James "CJ" Newman, 68, of Miami, OK, passed away at his home early Tuesday morning, June 13th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 21st, 1954 in Pineville, LA to Charlie and Helen (Piper) Newman. He retired from Knight Transportation after driving a truck for them for several years. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Ranel Cravens, of the home; a daughter, Michelle Horton; a granddaughter, Mercedes Mater; grandsons, Matthew Horton and Michael Johnson; great grandchildren, Madelyn Mater and Kol Johnson, all of Great Bend, KS; a stepson, Keaton Holland and wife Courtney; a step daughter, Lauren Holland; a step grandson, Cooper Holland; and step granddaughter Layla Holland, all of Branson, MO; and his very, very special mother in law who has always been "Mom" to him.
The family wishes to thank Good Shepherd Hospice for the remarkable care given to CJ over the past several weeks.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch.
