Charles William Hirsch's Obituary
Charles William “Charlie Bill” Hirsch, 71, a Miami resident passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was born in Drumright, Oklahoma on December 8, 1942 to William J. and Gladyce (Gilmore) Hirsch. Charlie joined the Navy in 1966; he was honorably discharged in 1969. Mr. Hirsch was the director of the Chamber of Commerce in Miami then the family moved to Alvin, Texas where he was the Chamber of Commerce director before going to work at Reliant Energy in Houston, Texas in their Public Relations Department. He was a member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus. He was of Quapaw descent. Mr. Hirsch enjoyed being active within his tribe, he was a part of the Pow-Wows and did some amazing bead work some of which is on display at the Down Stream Casino. Charlie Bill was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church. He loved to golfing, go fishing and the OU Sooners. He was preceded in passing by his parents William and Gladyce, a sister Mary Alice Newman and a son Bradley Allen Jacobs.
Survivors include his wife of the home Carolyn Hirsch, his children Melissa Nichols of Angelton, Texas, Lynnette Whitlow and her husband Billy of Colorado and Trisha Elkins and her husband Jerry of Seabrook, Texas. Other survivors include his two granddaughters Hannah Whitlow and Shelby Nichols.
There will be a Vigil Service and Visitation on Sunday, January 5, 2013 starting at 2:00 PM and visitation following until 4:00 PM at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Charlie Bill’s Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM on Monday, January 6, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Miami with Father Alex Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri. Immediately following the burial a dinner will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Miami.
